DigitalFusion was pleased to collaborate with Hasselblad Master August Bradley on a stunning collection of images presented at this years Downtown LA Fashion week.
The photography collection is a combination of three consecutive projects that were collaborations between Photographer August Bradley and fashion designer Louis Verdad, along with an exceptional creative team including hair stylist Carlos Ortiz with Cloutier and makeup artist Kimberly Pletz. The collection featured images from three chapters that built upon each other.
The first set of the series is entitled “Circus Life.” Originally created for the Hasselblad Masters Book, it explores detachment and and isolation — a sense of confinement despite a life on the road without physical barriers, but with a longing for something more and an active effort to break free. The second set continues the circus story with a rivalry between two people living and competing in close quarters, a conflict arising out of the discontentment of the confined state. And the third set goes underground into a bomb shelter in which a series of portraits depict an acceptance and survival instinct to overcome the inherent limitations of life in the bunker. In the setting with the most physical freedom the characters feel most confined, and in the place with the least freedom they achieve acceptance and reinvent themselves to adapt and survive.
August Bradley was invited to show the collection as a part of the MOCA fundraiser presented by Downtown L.A. Fashion Week at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Alongside the photography exhibition was the unveiling of the new Louver by Louis Verdad collection and a video installation by Robertino Fonseca with footage of the photo shoots that created the series of images on display.
“DigitalFusion has extensive post-production and printing capabilities, so from the start I knew they would be the perfect partner to create stunning fine-art prints for the show”, says Bradley. ” When I found out that the show was going to happen, Digital Fusion was my first call to get things rolling.”
