Tony Duran (www.tonyduran.net) has photographed a virtual who’s who of the Hollywood and fashion set. Born in Winona, MN and a graduate from University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Duran has no formal training in photography but relies more on his past of painting and drawing that give him the unique ability to capture a sensual side not often revealed in his subjects. From the beginning of his career, Duran has traveled the world building a stellar archive of work, initially settling in Sydney Australia, where he built a long list of editorial and commercial clients. His next stop was a stint in NY with Duran finally settling down in Los Angeles. Duran preceded to focus on celebrity photography.
The faces of Hollywood’s “A” list that have graced Duran’s lens include Beyonce, Tom Cruise , Brad Pitt, Lindsay Lohan, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, and Scarlett Johansson. A special relationship between Duran and Jennifer Lopez over the years has produced some of the most iconic photography of a single celebrity by one photographer. Duran’s editorial clients include GQ’s worldwide, Elle. Vanity Fair, Interview, Rolling Stone, Flaunt, Citizen K, Kurv, Esquire and Arena.
Duran’s timeless graphic style has impressed both the celebrity and fashion world, transcending into what he calls high end portraiture. Duran says,” I treat each subject with the same approach, be it models or actors, or a person off the street. People just want to look more beautiful and sexy than they did when they walked in the door. It is all a fantasy. A fantasy that I am more than willing to provide!”
Duran is in the process of publishing his first coffee table book to be released in 2009-2010.
